Working along side school Partnership Development partners and Extended school coordinators, we work alongside the government guidelines for extended school sessions to provide breakfast, lunch and after school clubs along the Every Child Matters (ECM) scheme in schools.
The Childrens Act (2004) issued requirements that all services working with children and young people (CYP) ensure that the 5 every child matters outcomes are adhered to.
Extended Schools are seen as a key contributor towards ensuring these outcomes are met. “The Government wants to integrate education, health and social care services around the needs of children. To achieve this, we want all schools to become Extended Schools – acting as the hub for services for children, families and other members of the community. Extended schools offer the community and their pupils a range of services (such as childcare, adult learning, health and community facilities) that go beyond their core educational function. “Every Child Matters 2004".
It is also one of the governments strategies to enhance the take up of sport in schools, and by 2012, the aim is to offer all children at least 4 hours of sort every week in hours beyond the school day, delivered by school, community and private clubs.
